Tonari Gumi Vancouver is seeking an Executive Director to oversee the leadership and management of this vital, grass roots Japanese Canadian non-profit organization.   Since 1974, Tonari Gumi has been inspiring Japanese Canadian seniors and other generations through social, recreational and educational programs and services for the betterment of the Japanese Canadian community.

The ideal candidate will be a natural leader with proven team building skills who has the ability to exercise compassion, inclusion and thoughtfulness while leading a team of volunteers and staff.  A strong personal connection to the Japanese Canadian culture as well as the ability to speak Japanese will be a definite asset.  Working closely with the Tonari Gumi board, the Executive Director will be responsible for the general oversight, administrative, fiscal management and continued stability of the organization. The Executive Director will further develop and manage the key areas of operations, fundraising, staffing, finance and budgeting, marketing and communications, community outreach, and stakeholder relations.

The position will report to the Tonari Gumi Board of Directors and a competitive salary will be considered based on the individual’s qualifications.
