The Right to Remain – exhibit presented by the Gallery Gachet, the “Revitalizing Japantown? Research Project, and the Right to Remain Community Fair Team.

This exhibition showcases artwork and documentation from a series of workshops guided by DTES artists who engaged their community in dialogue about human rights. “The Right to Remain” project is the third phase of the “Revitalizing Japantown?” research project in partnership with Queen’s University and the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre. Community organizations such as The Powell Street Festival Society, The Vancouver Japanese Language School, The Carnegie Community Centre, the JCCA and more, alongside artists and researchers are working to reclaim and re-enliven the human rights history of the DTES to endure that the rights of present-day inhabitants are prioritized amidst rapid social and environmental change.

Exhibition runs March 6th to April 12th, 2015
