In the years following World War II and the end of hostilities, the Consulate of Japan reopened in Vancouver and the interned Japanese Canadians began to re-enter mainstream society. In this fourth forum, keynote speaker Gordon Kadota will talk about how the Japanese Canadians sought to re-build their lives and communities and Consul General Seiji Okada will discuss the normalization of consulate activities based on documents and communication from Japan’s Diplomatic Archives.

Following the speakers, there will be a panel discussion and a Q&A session open for audience participation. This is a free event open to the public.

This forum takes place as part of the 2014 Powell Street Festival.
