Festival Overview

• PSF is Canada’s largest Japanese Canadian festival and Vancouver’s oldest community-based festival, attracting between 10,000–15,000 visitors over the two days of the Festival!
• Festival program enjoys a distribution of 9,000 during the event and in the month prior to the event.
• Society newsletter is distributed to over 700 Festival supporters throughout Canada, the US and Japan.
• 500 Festival posters are distributed in key locations – including community centres, libraries, restaurants, cafes, schools, Japanese-related businesses and organizations, and other arts events – throughout the Vancouver area.

The Powell Street Festival Society is proud to be celebrating our 35th annual festival of Japanese Canadian arts and culture on Saturday, July 30th and Sunday July 31st, 2011. The Festival is the largest Japanese Canadian celebration in Canada and the longest running community event in Vancouver. It attracts upwards of 15,000 visitors each year.

In the 2011 season, Powell Street Festival Society will also hold a special 35th Anniversary fundraiser, KANPAI! on Wednesday, June 15th at Performance Works on Granville Island. We will celebrate with an evening of entertainment, silent auction, and Japanese appetizers. In addition to the annual lottery, this fundraiser will help the Society deliver another year of vibrant, inclusive and artistically challenging and innovative works and we would like your help!
