The Powell Street Festival Society’s (PSFS) mission is to cultivate Japanese Canadian arts and culture to connect communities. Our vision includes a society enriched and interconnected through Japanese Canadian arts and culture. To achieve this vision, we aim to provide opportunities for Japanese Canadian emerging and established, professional and amateur, and traditional and contemporary artists.
Our artistic and cultural programming reflects a continuum of new to senior professional artists of Japanese heritage working in literary, visual, performing, new media, and inter- and community arts fields originating from across the Lower Mainland, Canada, the US, and Japan.
Currently, the festival schedule contains performances and programs from the following genres:
- Martial Arts
- Talks and Panels
- And more!
If you are interested in curating one of these programs or have any questions, please contact our Program Coordinator at samantha[a]powellstreetfestival.com with your CV/bio and proposed program details (type of program, duration, collaborators, equipment, etc.)
In addition to the Powell Street Festival, we also engage in co-presentations with arts organizations and produce an annual season of cultural and artistic programming. If you are interested in any other opportunities, please contact our Program Coordinator with any further questions.
