Raymond Nakamura is a writer, educator, and cartoonist. He is author of the picture book Peach Girl, and winner of the Nikkei Voice short story contest (2016). Children who like picture books will love this fun, interactive workshop on building stories with images and words. With tips for designing characters and playing with storylines, budding picture book creators will craft their own mini-stories to share with family and friends.

Raymond Nakamura will be reading Peach Girl, his re-interpretation of the Japanese folk tale Momotaro. In his version, a girl born from a giant peach, sets off with animal friends to meet a much feared ogre. Sally Ito will be reading from her translation of Are You An Echo by Misuzu Kaneko.
